The History

Johanna and John Bass donated a private collection to the City of Miami Beach and the museum opened in 1964. Housed in a 1930s Art Deco building that had been the Miami Beach Public Library and Art Center. This building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As such, it was the first South Florida public exhibition space for art.

Bass Museum of Art tickets are $15. There are discounts for seniors, students, and youth between the ages of 7 and 18. Admission is free for children under the age of six as well.
