Looking to beat that Miami heat? Then go take a splash at Grapeland Water Park, located right by the Miami International Airport.

This is a great outdoor activity option for your family, as the park has water features that are suitable for all ages.

If you have toddlers or young kids under 48” tall, head to Shipwreck Island and hang out in the splash fountains and shallow play area.

You and your older kids over 48” tall can enjoy three fast slides, water shooting cannons, and splash fountains at Pirate’s Plunge.

Finally, for those who prefer a more low-key water adventure, relax pool-side at the Captain’s Lagoon or float the lazy river on the Buccaneer River Ride.

You can purchase an admission pass for the entire day, with prices listed below:

  • Kids (2-13 years old): $7
  • Adult residents of Miami-Dade: $12 (be sure to bring your ID!)

Grapeland Water Park is a seasonal park, open for summer vacationers!  They close for the season between September and March every year.

Meet an Alligator at the Everglades Safari

The Everglades Safari is a great outdoor activity for nature-lovers. Located off US-41, Everglades Safari offers airboat tours of Everglades National Park.

During these 30-40 minute boat tours, you can learn all about the flora and fauna located in this wondrous ecosystem.

Everglades Safari provides both public and private tours, with the costs outlined below:

Type of Tour Length of Tour Cost
Public 30-40 minutes $27/person
Private 40 minutes $250 for the first four passengers and $40 for each additional passenger
Private 60 minutes $300 for the first four passengers and $65 for each additional passenger

Should none of these options works for your group, Everglades Safari is happy to accommodate up to 45 people in large group tours.

After your tour, stay for the Wildlife Nature Show, where you’ll learn even more about the animals native to the Everglades. And if you need to stretch your legs, take a walk on the Jungle Trail, which leads to an Alligator Farm and Crocodile Exhibit.

Both the Wildlife Nature Show and Jungle Trail are included as part of public and private tours.

If you can’t make it this weekend, don’t worry: Everglades Safari is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 9am to 5pm. Find out how to get to the park here
